ARTIST STATEMENT
JALE SEZAI
Fangirls are infamous for their excessive love, appreciation and often Hyper-fixated interaction with media, becoming so consumed by love that it is all they can think about. While I frequently shift between different media, sometimes, something in my brain just switches and I can’t think of anything but that film, series, or character for weeks. These works are a labour of love, which focus on using slow, repetitive craft-based processes as an act of affection and devotion to the fictional characters precious to me. The work I create is rooted in ideas of the devotion, worship and idolisation of fictional characters.
