LINDY MCSWAN

The concept of the life cycle of steel became a focus of my MFA research project. Ruined and weathered rusted objects found on remote desert tracks in Central Australia, were the starting point for these vessels. Each object has an unknown history and a unique and special quality. A self-imposed rule forbids alteration of the object, adding to the challenge of creating these vessels. Ultimately, they reflect on the iron oxide-rich environment and landscape where the objects were lifted off the ground, disrupting the corrosion process.
