ARTIST STATEMENT

KELLY CHRISTODOULOU

This work ties in directly with current issues we as a society are facing in regards to our planet and environment, specifically with plastic pollution and our single-use culture. Using found materials and integrating them with various recycled materials, metals and synthetic and semi-precious gemstones and pearls, I have completed works that include wearable objects, my own version of the precious 'crown jewels’. In the midst of a plastic pollution crisis, I've explored ways in making something beautiful and playful that represents up-cycling essentially from rubbish.
