ARTIST STATEMENT
YUJUN JIANG
Yujun Jiang makes contemporary jewellery that engages the intimacy and healing that comes from maternal energies through narrative expression. Objects in the artist's life that hold childhood memories are recreated by hand using discarded horsehair, enamel metalwork, and various materials. Tracing tactile memories such as touching her mother's hair during childhood. Yujun's jewellery symbolically transforms and combines trauma and fond memories, communicating the process of self-healing and growth as a woman.
